This painting was inspired by the artist Thomas Moran (1837-1926) His painting 'Castle Butte, Green River, Wyoming' (1900) caught my eye. Moran's use of color prompted me to produce an equally exciting work with color nuances. My painting has no mixed colors, all colors are glazed. Each layer must dry before the next is overlaid, etc. The viewer sees vibrant colors as light passes through the various layers of pigment. These colors are striking and much more 'alive' than mixed colors. Wyoming Butte took most of the year 2012 for me to complete!
