Out of the rain
This is a rather 'artsy' painting I did in oils of a freight train at night in the rain. The bright lights seem to create concentric circles as they penetrate the waves of heavy rain coming down. I actually once observed this optical phenomenon on an interstate in the rain at night; but not with a train. It was the halogen headlamps of many oncoming 18 wheeler trucks. I thought the circles their lights made in the rain was as pretty and surreal as it could be. Here I'm using a train engine's lights to produce the same magical look. The application of the oil paints was done quickly and with a heavy hand. Enjoy.
